Wheatland Express in the news – Special Olympics!!

Take a look at what happened early Friday morning at the Lewiston Center Mall. Lewiston Police and Nez Perce County deputies escorted a charter bus, filled with athletes from across the LC Valley. And on the bus, the LC Storm team, they’re headed to Twin Falls for the Idaho Special Olympic State Regional games.

Some athletes say, the Special Olympics is not about winning or losing, it’s about spending quality time with friends and family.

“It is an absolute amazing thing, the love, the passion for it and it’s been fun,” said athlete Randen Heighes.

“This is my family right here, I mean I couldn’t ask for anything more,” said athlete James Dawson.

The athletes will compete in swimming, basketball and track.

Officials say this trip has been made possible in part by contributions from the community.
